RescueRoute is a real-time logistics app that connects 3PL truck drivers carrying rejected loads with nonprofits ready to receive them — closing the gap between the dock door and the food bank in under a minute.

The food is already on the truck. The problem is what happens next.

Every day in the United States, perfectly edible food is rejected at the receiving dock for a dented box, a missed delivery window, or a paperwork mismatch. The driver has hours, not days, to find it a new home before it's landfilled.

The Problem

30–40% of the U.S. food supply goes to waste, often after it has already been picked, packed, and shipped.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that 14% of food globally is lost in transit between harvest and retail, yet this stage of the supply chain remains one of the least tracked and least understood sources of food waste. There is no large-scale systematic data collection on what is lost, where, or why. When a load is rejected mid-route, the driver is stuck. Most have no easy way to reach a nonprofit, no time to call around, and no knowledge of who needs what. The food goes to a landfill and the driver loses time and money.

A quick post from the cab. A live feed for nearby nonprofits. A confirmed delivery within the day.

RescueRoute lets a driver offer a rejected load as a donation in just minutes! The driver views a list of nearby nonprofits with warehouses, selects the closest ones, and the app notifies the nonprofits of the available donation. Once claimed the driver receives the address and completes the delivery. But RescueRoute is more than a logistics tool: every transaction generates real-time data on food that would otherwise be landfilled, building the first large-scale picture of in-transit food loss. We are simultaneously tracking this unmapped sector of wasted food and diverting it to where it is needed most.

03 - HOW IT WORKS

Making donations easier for everyone.

RescueRoute is built around ease of use. From scanning your bill of lading to create your donation, to receiving a donation receipt right to your inbox, we aim to make the donation process seamless.

Drivers scan the bill of lading right from the cab. RescueRoute reads the load details like product, pallet count, weight, and load type so there's no retyping what's already on the paperwork.

Drivers can set the radius they are willing to deliver and see the location of nearby nonprofits on a map in order to prioritize locations on their route.

Subscribed nonprofits get push, email, or SMS the instant a donation is posted. Drivers get a status push when a recipient claims, when they're enroute, and when they arrive.

Both sides confirm the handoff in-app. The record lands in our database for reporting and compliance, and an admin from our team generates a donation receipt for the donor.

04 - Pilot

Let's build this together, starting in Florida!

In order for RescueRoute to succeed, we need to test it! Our pilot program will begin in Florida where Epic-Cure and FoodRecovery.org have already distributed millions of pounds of food. We're looking for drivers and nonprofits from across Florida to help us move more food.
